{"id":9514,"date":"2023-08-07T15:44:25","date_gmt":"2023-08-07T22:44:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/samhealth.org\/?page_id=9514"},"modified":"2026-01-22T15:20:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T23:20:08","slug":"rotation-request","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/samhealth.org\/careers-education\/graduate-medical-education\/medical-student-information\/rotation-request\/","title":{"rendered":"Rotation Request &#8211; Graduate Medical Education"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section id=\"block_0760bd717058f50117e3629a0f9e2ff9\" class=\"shs-block block-section grid-container has-blue-light-background-color\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"entry-content\">\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-rotation-request\">Rotation Request<\/h1>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section id=\"block_74b86a12f8d8e6481f1cee014d1925bd\" class=\"shs-block block-section grid-container has-white-background-color\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"entry-content\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Request a Rotation &amp; Get Approved<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We will begin accepting applications for medical student audition rotations for the\u00a0<strong>2026-2027<\/strong>\u00a0academic year beginning\u00a0<strong>Feb. 1, 2026<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To complete a rotation request, please submit the following information to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:medstudentrotations@samhealth.org\">medstudentrotations@samhealth.org<\/a><a href=\"mailto:medstudentrotations@samhealth.org\">.<\/a>&nbsp;In the subject line, please specify the program you are interested in (i.e. Rotation request for Internal Medicine).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Please include the following in your email:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/samhealth.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/GME-Clinical-Rotation-Application-321.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Completed application<\/a>&nbsp;filled out by the student and designated school official. All boxes must be filled out and checked to be considered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A current copy of your CV.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A cover letter which briefly discusses why you decided to pursue a career in your chosen specialty, your educational history and your program of interest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All COMLEX &nbsp;and\/or USMLE scores.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current medical school class ranking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After you submit the above information for your rotation request, our specific programs will review your information and&nbsp;notify you if you have been approved for a rotation. Individual programs may ask you for additional information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we are able to accommodate your request, you will receive a confirmation email asking you to complete step two below. Please do not assume that your rotation has been approved until you receive confirmation from our office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you for your interest.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section id=\"block_0760bd717058f50117e3629a0f9e2ff9\" class=\"shs-block block-section grid-container has-blue-light-background-color\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"entry-content\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Submit Required Documents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After you have received confirmation from Samaritan\u2019s Office of Medical Education that your rotation request has been approved, please submit the documents listed on the application as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Proof of current Professional Liability &amp; General Liability insurance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Letter of reference\/good standing from the school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Specifics of clinical rotation (course requirements, skills, hours, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>School\/program contact information (name of program, contact person, email and phone number.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current criminal background check (performed by approved vendor according to OHA rules, completed within the past 12-24 months of the start of student\u2019s rotation.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current urine drug screen (10-panel drug test by reputable vendor according to OHA rules, result must have been done within the past 12 months preceding the start of student\u2019s rotation. If student needs a urine drug screen test, he\/she may arrange to do so through Samaritan\u2019s Occupational Medicine Department.&nbsp;<strong>Note: Student will be responsible for the cost.<\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current immunization records including baseline Tuberculin (TB) Test, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, influenza and COVID-19.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current AHA BLS training.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Documentation from school\/program that the student has received prior training (compliant with federal OSHA requirements) on the following: bloodborne pathogen training, fire and electrical safety, PPE, hazard communications and infection prevention practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After your application has been approved and all requested documents received, you will receive a confirmation email from the program coordinator that includes details about your rotation (dates, when and where to report, potential housing opportunities, etc.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to your rotation, you will also be required to complete&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/samhealth.org\/careers-education\/graduate-medical-education\/medical-student-information\/online-orientation\">online orientation<\/a>&nbsp;to review Samaritan\u2019s policies and trainings.
