{"id":9508,"date":"2023-08-07T15:38:25","date_gmt":"2023-08-07T22:38:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/samhealth.org\/?page_id=9508"},"modified":"2025-09-26T11:53:45","modified_gmt":"2025-09-26T18:53:45","slug":"application-process","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/samhealth.org\/careers-education\/graduate-medical-education\/join-our-residency\/application-process\/","title":{"rendered":"Residency Application Process \u2013 Graduate Medical Education"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section id=\"block_257f20f05f3e226932fdd59fea4e1836\" class=\"shs-block block-section grid-container has-blue-light-background-color\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"entry-content\">\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-residency-application-process\">Residency Application Process<\/h1>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section id=\"block_bb4326d6c25d8aaad624d3917bd21efb\" class=\"shs-block block-section grid-container has-white-background-color\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"entry-content\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To Apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Applications are accepted via the<\/strong><strong>\u202f<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/students-residents.aamc.org\/applying-residency\/applying-residencies-eras\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)<\/strong><strong>\u202f<\/strong><\/a>\u2014 administered by the Association of American Medical College (AAMC).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please visit ERAS for a complete list of instructions and timelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications will be accepted beginning September 2025, for the 2026-2027 academic year. &nbsp;We participate in the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrmp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please see individual program websites for specific application process for each specialty.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All applicants must be either a U.S. citizen or be a permanent green card holder. Currently, we do not provide visa sponsorship.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An applicant must meet one of the following qualifications to be eligible for appointment to one of our programs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Graduation from a medical school in the United States accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME); <strong>or<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Graduation from a college of osteopathic medicine in the United States, accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA); <strong>or<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Graduation from a medical school outside of the United States that is accredited by a country and agency which has comparable processes, curriculum and educational content as outlined and defined by the LCME and AOA and is recognized as having these standards by the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA) and meets one of the following additional qualifications:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Holds a currently-valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates prior to appointment; <strong>or<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Holds a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a United States licensing jurisdiction in his or her current ACGME specialty\/subspecialty program; <strong>or<\/strong>,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has graduated from a medical school outside the United States and has completed a Fifth Pathway program provided by an LCME-accredited medical school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interviews&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Interviews will be granted to those who successfully complete our initial screening process.
