Samaritan is proud to offer this award to its nurses who are recognized for the compassionate, exemplary care they provide.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. It is administered by The&nbsp;DAISY Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by members of his family. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill, inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All five Samaritan-affiliated hospitals have partnered with The DAISY Foundation to offer the award for care that goes beyond Samaritan\u2019s PRIDE values (passion, respect, integrity, dedication and excellence).
