It is a true \u201cearn and learn\u201d pathway to employment for individuals wanting to become a certified clinical medical assistant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medical assistants are highly valued and in demand in the health care industry. The MA role focuses on completing administrative and clinical tasks in the offices of physicians, hospitals and other health care facilities. Duties will vary based on location, specialty and size of the practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apprentices will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Earn and learn:<\/strong>&nbsp;All apprentices will be full-time employees with benefits and eligible for hire upon completion of the program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Prepare for medical assistant certification:<\/strong>&nbsp;The program prepares apprentices to complete the exam and earn the certified clinical medical assistant, also known as CCMA, certification through National Healthcareer Association.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Complete hands-on training:<\/strong>&nbsp;Apprentices will complete 2,000 hours of on-the-job training over 12 months with one-on-one mentoring by an experienced medical assistant and 156 hours of online coursework through Allied Health West JATC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Paid, full time with benefits.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Program lasts approximately 12 months (2,000 hours).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Includes 156 hours of online coursework and associated homework, which is to be done on the apprentice\u2019s own time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No cost to the apprentice for program and classroom fees, certified medical assistant certification preparation and testing fee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-program-eligibility\">Program Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To be eligible for the program, internal and external candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Age:<\/strong>&nbsp;Must be age 18 years or older to participate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Education:<\/strong>&nbsp;High school diploma or equivalent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Physical:<\/strong>&nbsp;Must be able to perform the duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Experience:<\/strong>&nbsp;Previous experience in allied health or administrative work is helpful, but not required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-apply\">How to Apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To be considered for this opportunity, interested individuals must complete a program application through&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sowib.org\/cma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Southwestern Oregon Workforce Investment Board.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants are screened by the apprenticeship coordinator to determine whether they meet minimum qualifications. When a new position is available, apprenticeship candidates will then apply and interview for applicable openings at Samaritan.
