Through a balance of rigorous clinical training and thoughtful academic instruction, residents gain the skills to treat individuals using a range of evidence-based and humanistic approaches \u2014 including psychodynamic, biological, behavioral, cognitive, and psychosocial models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents learn in real-world environments, working alongside community partners who welcome them as integral members of care teams. I have never felt so comfortable and supported if I have any questions or need clarification. When people say to come with any questions or concerns I feel they truly mean it. Along with this comes transparency that I feel is present on all levels. I know my supervisors are working towards the best program they can provide for the residents and are honest when things don\u2019t go as planned or need improvement and what the plans are to accomplish this. Work-life balance has always been important to me, I feel the sanity and well-being of residents is taken into account while still providing ample opportunities for learning and becoming a better physician. I feel supported here in my interests both inside and outside of medicine. I feel respected and that my input has value with my peers and attendings. Lastly, Corvallis is an amazing community to live and practice medicine in. There are amazing outdoor recreational activities and it\u2019s a community very open to health and improvement. In the winter, you can enjoy a day or weekend ski trip to one of several ski areas in the Oregon Cascades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Corvallis also has a great variety of food options ranging from French pastries in the morning to late-night burritos, as well as several breweries, wineries and a local cider house. We even have a Farmer\u2019s Market on Saturday with lots of local produce, farm-raised meats and bakeries selling fresh breads and treats that you can enjoy in one of the surrounding parks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Corvallis is also home to the Oregon State Beavers and we&nbsp;have the opportunity to&nbsp;go to various Pac-12 sporting events.
