Our fellows become part of community-based teams, utilizing a variety of frameworks based on the philosophy of the partner agency and the needs of the youth and family.&nbsp;This diverse learning experience prepares our fellows to provide broad-based psychiatric care, assume leadership roles in medicine and the community, and contribute to the evolving knowledge base of the specialty of psychiatry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Treatment plans are developed specifically to meet the needs of patients and families, with attention to the neurobiology and psychological functioning of the individual and their environment.&nbsp; This includes the strengths of the individual and family as well as identifying areas needing additional support.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section id=\"block_a682de97a01efee9d84e150d4768f205\" class=\"shs-block block-section grid-container has-blue-midnight-background-color\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"entry-content\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our Mission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our training program aims to educate and train outstanding community-based child and adolescent psychiatrists, capable of thriving in a team-based environment and dedicated to the well-being of the patients, their family and their community, while maintaining personal wellness.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section id=\"Curriculum\" class=\"shs-block block-section grid-container has-gray-warm-background-color\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"entry-content\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Curriculum<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fellows join staff in approaching patients and their families from a developmental perspective using five clinical orientations: psychodynamic, psychosocial, biologic, behavioral and cognitive.&nbsp;We challenge our fellows to integrate varied conceptual models for the benefit of those they serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our two-year program exposes trainees to multiple settings of care for a well-rounded exposure to a wide range of child and adolescent psychiatry practice environments, including subacute inpatient, residential, day treatment and outpatient settings, providing a broad range of how treatment is delivered, including direct patient care, psychiatric consultation integrated into primary care\/pediatric clinics, and collaboration and consultation with community systems\/agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;These community partners include school systems, juvenile detention, after-school program, youth shelter, developmental disabilities program, substance use treatment and behavioral\/mental health treatment programs. background-position:50% 0%;\">\n\t\t<div class=\"entry-content\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Explore Our Region<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Willamette Valley is filled with a variety of activities and outdoor adventures,&nbsp;ranging from hiking and mountain biking to mellow floats down the river in the summer. In the winter, you can enjoy a day or weekend ski trip to one of several ski areas in the Oregon Cascades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Corvallis also has a great variety of food options ranging from French pastries in the morning to late-night burritos, as well as several breweries, wineries and a local cider house. We even have a Farmer\u2019s Market on Saturday with lots of local produce, farm-raised meats and bakeries selling fresh breads and treats that you can enjoy in one of the surrounding parks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Corvallis is also home to the Oregon State Beavers and we&nbsp;have the opportunity to&nbsp;go to various Pac-12 sporting events.
